Iran ready to broaden ties with Ethiopia: Foreign Minister Mottaki


Addis Ababa, September 05, 2007 (WIC) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said his country is ready to broaden all-out ties with Ethiopia, according to IRNA.
Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin on the sidelines of 'NAM Meeting on Human Rights and Cultural Diversity'.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Foreign Ministry, Mottaki said at the meeting that "We are ready to prepare grounds for Ethiopia to purchase oil and are ready to cooperate with them in the fields of agriculture and industry." Iran possesses good facilities for implementation of various projects, the minister said, adding that "We are able to put our services at their disposal in the form of rendering technical and engineering services to implement different projects in Ethiopia." Iran is capable enough to cooperate in construction of power plants, dam and building construction in Ethiopia, he underlined.

Lauding the presence of the Ethiopian foreign minister in the meeting, he said the presence of over 50 ministers and 100 delegates from various countries round the globe indicated the extent to which NAM members are committed to the issue of human rights and cultural diversity.

The Ethiopian foreign minister welcomed expansion of economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and called on Iran to make more investment in Ethiopia's agricultural sector, the source said.

Ethiopian delegation is to visit Tehran to discuss oil purchase, according to the news agency.
